Who Am I?
A Few Words About Me
I have been a Certified and Licensed Occupational Therapist since 2016. As of 2022, I have completed comprehensive lymphedema training and certification for healthcare professionals in Lymphedema Management. I have completed training in all aspects of Complete Decongestive Therapy, which is considered the “Gold Standard” treatment for lymphedema.
The reason why lymphedema therapy is so important is that Lymphedema Therapists re-route lymph away from congested areas towards healthy areas in order to drain lymph fluid, resulting in decreased swelling. Decreased swelling lowers the risk of skin infections, such as cellulitis.
As a Certified Lymphedema Therapist, I perform Manual Lymphatic Drainage which breaks down fibrotic tissue and has an analgesic effect, resulting in decreased pain levels. In the Alzheimer’s brain, abnormal levels of beta amyloid proteins clump together to form plaques that collect between neurons and disrupt cell function. Manual Lymphatic Drainage of the face, head, and neck decreases protein rich swelling in the brain, resulting in decreased plaque in the brain that causes Alzheimer’s. It also decreases lymph swelling in people with encephalopathy, decreasing symptoms of confusion.
